What do you think of the cover?

Pretend to be from Spain? Act like she can barely speak English? Sure, why not? It wouldn’t be the first time Gabby Vega had agreed to a challenge from her best friend, Kenzie. Besides, it’s only for a week of vacation with Kenzie’s cousins. Gabby will prove to Kenzie she can keep up the fake identity for the whole trip—that she’s not a quitter.
There’s just one major surprise. Noah Jernigan is also staying with Kenzie’s cousins. Noah, the boy she fell in love with at drama camp last summer and the boy she had to dump when it was over. The boy who knows who she really is.
Noah can’t believe it when Gabby appears at the Bryson’s vacation home in the New Mexico mountains. He hasn’t seen her in a year. It practically took that long just to get over her. And now she’s Gabriela from Spain? All he wants is to get as far away as he can. Or maybe the exact opposite. Stick as close to her as possible and find out what the heck happened last summer. And definitely get some payback.
Now Gabby has to keep Noah at arm’s length as she pretends to be Gabriela. She doesn’t want to answer his questions or rehash last summer. Because one thing is clear—the more time she spends with Noah, the more she’s in danger of falling for him all over again.

Book Review ~ The Unlucky Lottery Winners of Classroom 13 (Book 1 in the Classroom 13 Series) by Honest Lee and Matthew J. Gilbert Art by Joelle Dreidemy

The Unlucky Lottery Winners of Classroom 13
Book 1 in the Classroom 13 Series
by Honest Lee and Matthew J. Gilbert
Art by Joelle Dreidemy
Expected publication: June 6th 2017 by Little, Brown Books for Young Readers

When unlucky teacher Ms. Linda LaCrosse wins the lottery, she shares her winnings with her class--giving each student over a BILLION DOLLARS!

You might think this was nice, but it was not. It was a nasty idea! With great money comes horrible allergies, steep taxes, exploding volcanoes, and other problems. As the students of Classroom 13 are about to learn, winning the lottery is not always lucky.
What would YOU do if you won the lottery? The final chapter encourages young readers to write their OWN chapter and send it in to the author, Honest Lee.
The Unlucky Lottery Winners of Classroom 13 is the first in a new chapter book series of hilarious stories about a rather unlucky classroom. Each story is full of humor, action, and fun, and will prompt hours of conversation among friends, families, and classrooms.

If you play the lottery, you probably dream of what you would do if you happen to win the jackpot.  From investing, to going on dream vacations, to buying an amazing new home – the possibilities are practically endless for a lucky winner. If the winner chooses wisely, they will be set for life.  If the wrong choices are made, well you can only imagine. Thus the premise of this delightful chapter book.

Ms. Linda, a schoolteacher, is generally very unlucky - life never seems to be in her favor.  One unlucky morning she had a flat tire while going to work.  Forced to spend money to use the phone to call for help, she purchases a lottery ticket for one of the biggest lotteries of all time.  Because she is so unlucky, she just sticks the ticket in her pocket, knowing there isn’t any chance that she would win. When she finally arrives to her class, the discussion starts on current events – one being the lottery.  Remembering her ticket, Ms. Linda decides to use this as a learning tool.  Because we all dream big, and Ms. Linda knows there is no possible way she will ever win (because she is so unlucky), she promises her students that if she wins, she will share the winnings with each of the children in her class.  They sign a contract and pinky swear, and the day goes on as normal.  But, Ms. Linda’s luck changes!  She wins the lottery in the amount of $28,000,000,000!!!!!  She gives each child their winnings, and this is where the story really begins.  Each chapter is about one of the children and what they decided to do with their new fortune.  Some choose wisely, while some, well….not so much.  In the end, they all learned a valuable lesson that no amount of money could ever buy.

The Unlucky Lottery Winners of Classroom 13 is a delightful book that will appeal to young children and in the process, open up meaningful discussions between parent and child.  As a bonus, the illustrations throughout are absolutely charming and really add to the story.  The writing is simplistic enough that young readers should not have a problem reading to themselves.  The very last chapter ask the reader to write down what they would do if they won one billion dollars which the author states he would love to read if mailed to him.  This is a great start to the Classroom 13 Series and I can’t wait to read what the children of Classroom 13 get to discover next.  Whatever it is, I think it’s going to be a fun adventure!

I went to the spare bedroom and grabbed the box for Uncle Artie’s clocks. I replaced them one by one, starting with the crescent moon clock. After the German village cuckoo clock made its way into the box, I noticed something extra strange. All Uncle Artie’s clocks were stuck at two o’clock. How come no one else noticed this? That question troubled me as I put the box of clocks in its resting place. It was as if those clocks had something to say but couldn’t say it.
When I came back down I gave the Hoffhalder another hard look, this time from the other side of the room. As much as I tried to convince myself this was just a clock, I knew that wasn’t the case. It spoke to me, although I couldn’t completely understand it.

Things were going from strange to downright weird.

The clock on the radio displayed 4:05. I compared it to my watch, which I had put back on before sitting at the head of the table. The time was frozen at two o’clock. How strange. My watch always worked perfectly. When Uncle Artie gave it to me, he said it was a one-of-a-kind watch that would never need winding. I decided it was best not to tell anyone.

We drove through what we called downtown Hambleton, and only a few people were on the road. It was Thanksgiving, so this was not too surprising. In fact, it was one of the reasons we went for a drive on major holidays. Most people were home, and we usually had the roads to ourselves. Dad and Grandpa liked it that way.

Release Week Blitz & Giveaway ~ FINDING YOU (Destination Love #3) by Jo Watson

Finding You
Author: Jo Watson
On Sale: May 2, 2017
Series: Destination Love #3
Publisher: Forever
Format: Trade Paperback
Price: $14.99 USD

Being adopted never made Jane Smith feel unloved, just unlike the rest of her family. As her twenty-fifth birthday approaches, she is struck by an overwhelming longing to finally find her place in the world. So, in a very un-Jane-like move, she books a last-minute ticket to Greece to find her birth father and the real Jane. All she knows about him is that he was a tour guide named Dimitri. Armed with this knowledge and several surprise boxes of condoms from her mom (not embarrassing at all), Jane takes off.

Within minutes of landing she makes two important discoveries. First, everyone in Greece is named Dimitri, and second, fate might be playing a sick joke on her when a sexy tour guide called Dimitri comes to fetch her from the airport. After failing to find concrete information about her father, Dimitri offers to help Jane with her search – if she’ll go on an adventure with him. Stable Jane would never risk a steamy vacation romance, but real Jane might finally be ready to listen to her heart. Will Jane find her biological father, or will she end up finding something else entirely?

He stepped toward me. My heart stopped pumping. He leaned in close and pulled my hand from behind my back and placed his card in the center of my palm. My nerve endings prickled and the hair on the back of my neck stood up.

“Just in case.” He repeated the words and they sounded so loaded.

In case what? In case I decided to lose all common sense, judgment, control, my mind (although that was already up for debate) and call you for a midnight beach romp. I’ll be sure to bring my watch so I can take note of how long it takes you to make me start screaming your name in wild ecstasy…Oh God, that sounded good!

I took a large step back. He took a large step forward. Back. Forward. Then he leaned in again. Holy Crap! He was coming in for that double-cheek kiss again and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to remain cool and calm and controlled this time.  Only he didn’t. He did something far, far more odd and unsettling. He pulled my sunglasses off, placed them in the same hand as the card and then closed my fingers around them. He squeezed my hand closed while looking into my eyes in a way that rattled me to my very core.

My head started spinning and suddenly I felt a tad unsteady. I hoped to hell that I wasn’t about to be knocked off my feet by my raging hormones and fall into his arms. He gave my hand one last squeeze, and then… he was gone!

What the hell did that mean? You can’t just take off a person’s glasses, put them in their hands, stare into their eyes meaningfully and then mysteriously walk away without saying a word. What the hell was he playing at?

And why was it so hard to keep myself from falling for it?
