I Am the Weapon
(The Unknown Assassin #1)
by Allen Zadoff
Synopsis
Boy
Nobody is the perennial new kid in school, the one few notice and nobody thinks
much about. He shows up in a new high school, in a new town, under a new name,
makes few friends and doesn't stay long. Just long enough for someone in his
new friend's family to die -- of "natural causes." Mission
accomplished, Boy Nobody disappears, and moves on to the next target.
When
his own parents died of not-so-natural causes at the age of eleven, Boy Nobody
found himself under the control of The Program, a shadowy government
organization that uses brainwashed kids as counter-espionage operatives. But
somewhere, deep inside Boy Nobody, is somebody: the boy he once was, the boy
who wants normal things (like a real home, his parents back), a boy who wants
out. And he just might want those things badly enough to sabotage The Program's
next mission.

My Thoughts
A teenage assassin who is highly trained by “The
Program” to enter a target’s life, befriend
them, kill them and then silently leave it all behind to start the next mission
which is dictated by his “Father” and “Mother”.
Yep, this is Boy Nobody’s life and from the very first page of I Am the Weapon, the reader tags along
on this wild and crazy ride full of twists and turns you never see coming.
I
Am the Weapon is not a book I would normally
gravitate to and I really didn’t know what to expect when I started it. But HOLY CRAP! I was beyond pleasantly surprised on how good
it was. No, I take that back – it was
beyond good….it was amazing!
If I had to describe this book in one word, it
would be INTENSE! The heart-pounding action
was non-stop and so gripping, the reader can’t help but be compelled to read
the entire book in one sitting – this reader did! This one is epic people and definitely one to
add to the top of your reading list if you love a thrilling, suspenseful,
action-packed story with a main character you can’t help but love and want to
know more about.
Special thanks to Little, Brown Books for Young
Readers and NetGalley for providing me a copy of this book to read in exchange
for an honest review.
My rating: 5 out of 5 stars
