Hundreds of cats are
missing! Fear not-Penelope Ann Pickersgill and her hippie grandma are on the
case. While her friends go to cool camps, twelve-year-old Penelope has to spend
the summer with Grandma Bev, who is convinced that cat-eating aliens are
beaming the town's furry friends aboard their mother ship at night. Lights in
the sky point to UFO's, but Penelope is sure there's a more logical
explanation. With a little help from Sherlock Holmes, she and Grandma Bev set
out to find the cats. Will they be able to solve the mystery before all the
cats in Thornhill disappear?

Spending the summer at
her eccentric grandmother’s house eating organic food and listening to conspiracy
theories ranging from the use of high fructose corn syrup to genetically
modified crops to alien invasions was not Penelope’s idea of fun especially
when her friends are having the time of their lives at summer camp and other
activities. That all changed though when
over 200 cats go missing in the town of Thornhill. It’s up to Penelope and her hippie
grandmother to follow the clues in an investigation to find the missing cats
and along the way, having the time of her life and discovering that her grandmother
is kind of cool.
During the course of the
investigation, Grandma Bev is convinced that it is either aliens or a corporate
conspiracy that is behind the cat thefts, but Penelope tries to rely on facts
thanks from some help of Sherlock Holmes sleuthing skills. As the two follow possible leads, Penelope tries her best to keep her
grandmother on a more logical and sensible track which proves to bit quite the challenge but makes for a really entertaining
story.
To Catch a Cat Thief is a delightfully fun and engaging story that
had me giggling and smiling throughout. This book is
a quick read that held my interest wanting to know if the mystery could be
solved and I must admit that it is one of the cutest books I have read. It is well-written, well-paced, and has extremely
likable characters. It’s a perfect book for young readers or even adults who
enjoy a fun story.
