My Toddler Life is a book based on a toddler’s life in today’s world where our smartphones tend to take
center stage and we use the phone as our way of capturing every life event with
the camera feature. As a society, tend
to use our smartphones for everything
and the children in our lives pick up on that - if mommy or daddy 'plays' with their phone all day, then it
MUST be okay for the child to play with it...right? Well, perhaps not so much.
This
story is told from the point of view of the toddler as he finds his mother's
phone left unattended and begins taking selfies. When his mom discovers
what is happening and after looking at all the selfies her child took and all
of the other pictures on her phone, she
begins to realize the moments she has captured show that life is passing by too
quickly. It's just time to put the phone
down and spend some quality time with her child, building memories that will
last a lifetime.

My Toddler Life is probably the cutest and most clever books I have
read. As a grandparent in this technology based age, I can totally relate
to this book. Lord knows, whenever my grandson is in my sight, I am
constantly taking pictures of him. His
own mother has caught him taking selfies with her phone and I must admit, it
was too cute! However, it was also a
reminder that as parents and grandparents, sometimes we just need to put the
phone down and have some one-on-one time without the camera/phone always being
around.
This book
is just perfect for parents and their kids as it is just the right length for a
quick read. The delightful illustrations are bright and cheery and the
story with its rhyming prose is amusing and fun to read. If you have a toddler
or young child and you are one of THOSE parents (or grandparents) who
simply love to take pictures and document every moment with your smartphone,
then this book is for you.
