We
are the Dinosaurs by Laurie Berkner is a darling book based on
the song of the same name. When I
received the book, I had no idea there was an actual song, so I looked it up
and immediately thought, what a great idea….bringing a song to book form! Brilliant…simply brilliant! What is even
better is the absolutely cute illustrations in the book. Young children will LOVE this book,
especially if you sing the words as you read it out loud to your child.
As far as the story goes, there really isn’t a point to
it in my opinion except showing what friendship is all about. It’s just a group of
young dinosaur friends spending some time together, having fun, stomping around, going on
a picnic and camping at night. I think it is a fun book that will appeal to both young boys and girls. Plus, parents will have fun singing the
catchy song along with their child....and perhaps because of its catchiness, still have the song in your mind long after the book is read.
