He’s a womanizer. He’s cocky. He’s not exactly a prince. Only he technically is. Meet your new royal obsession in this addictive novel from New York Times bestselling author Tracy Wolff.

Being rich opens a lot of doors. When you’re rich and royal, those doors lead to a new bedroom every night. I should know. The tabloids call me His Royal Hotness, Prince Kian of Wildemar. Women across the world see me as a naughty fairy tale, an image I’m happy to indulge. As the spare to the heir, I’m the prince with none of the power . . . and all of the perks.

Then my twin brother is kidnapped, and suddenly I’m the one who could be king. The crown chasers start circling—and yet it’s a luscious waitress who catches my eye. With a smart mouth and the curves to back it up, Savannah Breslin is as brazen as I’d expect an American commoner to be.

But Savvy’s not interested in playing Cinderella. As sexy as she is, she’s no stranger to heartbreak. Besides, a nice guy wouldn’t drag her into all the drama that comes along with royalty. Lucky I’m not a nice guy. And, as it turns out, I might not even be her first prince. . . .

Prince Kian of Wildemar has it all – he’s rich, good looking and can have any woman he wants.  He is a ‘spare’ to the throne however as his twin brother, Garrett, was born minutes earlier.  So you see, Kian has all the fun but none of the responsibility that comes with being next in line to the throne. All that changes though when Garrett is kidnapped and with not knowing if he is dead or alive, Kian must face his calling and deal with all the royal duties that he has wanted to avoid.  Kian’s playboy ways seem to vanish though when he meets Savvy and that is when this story begins to heat up and the real action begins.

What girl doesn’t dream of being swept off her feet by a handsome prince?  Although that wasn’t quite Savvy’s dream, it is a reality that she just can’t believe is true.  Not only has she fallen in love with a prince, this isn’t her first rodeo with the royal family.  Nope…you see Savvy dated Garrett five years ago, but the relationship did not work due to Garrett’s love of his country and his destiny of being the next King.  Although she is falling in love with Kian, she is afraid of falling too deep, fearing that Kian’s destiny will prevent any type of long-term relationship.

To be honest, I am so torn on how I feel about this book.  It’s a really cute story with the desired HEA, but something was just missing.  I felt as though the story could have been expanded on just a bit – maybe more background on Garrett’s and Savvy’s failed relationship would have helped.  Or maybe the story ended too perfectly – because let’s be honest, a King (especially the one in this story) will not let his son just marry anyone – especially a commoner – without some sort of conflict. I guess I would have liked to know what happened after Kian and Savvy announced their undying love to one another.  Did the King throw a royal fit? Did they get married?  Have kids?  Something….anything?  The ending to me felt rushed and just left me feeling empty despite the HEA.  Even though this story did not leave in a cliffhanger per say, I really hope that some of these questions will be answered in the next installment of this new series.

This was a fun read despite the few issues I had with the story and I will definitely check out the next installment when it releases.

3 ½ stars

Tracy Wolff collects books, English degrees and lipsticks and has been known to forget where—and sometimes who—she is when immersed in a great novel. At six she wrote her first short story—something with a rainbow and a prince—and at seven she forayed into the wonderful world of girls lit with her first Judy Blume novel. By ten she’d read everything in the young adult and classics sections of her local bookstore, so in desperation her mom started her on romance novels. And from the first page of the first book, Tracy knew she’d found her life-long love. Now an English professor at her local community college, she writes romances that run the gamut from contemporary to paranormal to erotic suspense.

And for all of those who want the unedited version:
Tracy Wolff lives with four men, teaches writing to local college students and spends as much time as she can manage immersed in worlds of her own creation. Married to the alpha hero of her dreams for twelve years, she is the mother of three young sons who spend most of their time trying to make her as crazy as possible.
