Bartelby is a very long and lovable dachshund who lives in a bookstore. He has a lovely set of friends who take him for walks through the city, but he has no idea that his bumbling backside leaves a trail of destruction and accidents behind him. Embarrassed that he has no control over his back end, Bartelby vows to never leave the cozy bookstore again. Can his friends help him find a way to help himself?

This beautifully illustrated picture book features silly fun along with an important message: that we love our friends not in spite of their flaws, but because of them.

Bartelby is a very long dog (make that a very, very, very long dog) who hangs out in a bookstore with his friends.  On the occasion when Bartelby goes outside to have a stroll and play, his very long bottom causes quite the mess.  When he realizes his bottom isn’t quite normal, he gets sad.  With the help of his friends, Bartebly learns to understand that not everybody (or dog) is perfect and our flaws make us uniquely special.

This was a cute story with absolutely darling illustrations.  A perfect choice for bedtime story reading time that is not only entertaining, but teaches a lesson.   Younger children will surely love this story.
