Holly Hart has it all: designer clothes, affluent friends, a recording contract, and she’s dating the biggest pop star in America.
It’s too bad he can’t be seen with her in public. It’s even worse that he seems so very cozy with Lacey, the girl who seems to enjoy stealing Holly’s dream and taking all the credit for their platinum-selling album.
And Lacey? Well she couldn’t carry a tune in a bucket, but that hasn’t stopped her from basking in the glow of the fame and fortune that comes with pretending to be Holly.
Yet, Holly signed a contract vowing to never reveal her true identity as the girl behind the hit songs. Her record label doesn’t want anyone to know their teen dream is really a chubby, insecure girl from Iowa.
Holly needs to focus on finals. She can’t let herself be distracted by the extremely hot and talented Grayson Frost or his prevailing attachment to Lacey. This is the deal Holly made, and she has to honor it no matter how much she hates it.
As if that’s not enough pressure, her grandparents have come to stay, her mom is dating a guy who makes his own deodorant, Shell Shocked Records want Holly to distance herself from Grayson, and she’ll probably end up failing Driver’s Ed. In a town full of gossip and secrets, Holly wonders just how much longer she can continue to live a double life.
When the media gets a little too close for comfort, both Holly and Lacey are at risk. Soon Holly realizes her dream isn’t only about her and if she is to ever be truly happy, she’ll need to find a way past her insecurities.
Filled with laugh out loud and hold your breath moments, Holly Hearts Headlines is the follow-up to Holly Hearts Hollywood by Kenley Conrad.

excerpt
I don’t know if you’ve ever been shopping for men’s clothing, but it is a LOT different from women’s clothing. Besides the obvious lack of fun dresses and skirts, men’s clothing is boring. They don’t wear fun floral patterns or bedazzled skull jumpers. I mean they could if they wanted to, but I guess designers aren’t feeling it this season. Hey, if any haute couture designers are reading this, and I hope to God you aren’t, don’t be afraid to add a little color and fun to men’s clothing! It doesn’t all have to be simple, neutral colors you know.
Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah. So, the first issue I was running into was just finding Grayson’s SIZE. Women’s clothing is sized with the ever-ambiguous small, medium, or large which can greatly vary depending on what store you’re at. Even worse than the small, medium, or large setup is the 2, 4, 6, 8, and so on size chart. There’s just no logic. Men’s clothing is sized in inches from waistline to leg lengths. It is so much more accurate and practical.

So I was standing in the men’s department with a pair of raw, denim jeans in one hand and a relaxed fit Henley shirt in the other when I had a horrible realization: I don’t know a lot about my boyfriend. Sure, I know basic stuff his fans know like his birthday, favorite color, and favorite flavor of ice cream. But I don’t know his shoe size or his favorite cut of jeans. How am I supposed to buy my boyfriend an awesome birthday gift if I don’t know his waist to pant leg measurements? I AM A HORRIBLE GIRLFRIEND.

Holly Hearts Hollywood is the first book in a series.
Seventeen-year-old Holly Hart wants to be a star. She moves to Los Angeles from the small town of Cedar Junction, only to hear she’s too fat and ugly to be a famous singer. But when Shell Shocked Records looks past Holly’s plus-size and less-than-graceful-personality to offer her a recording contract, Holly cannot believe her good fortune. On closer inspection, however, the the record execs want Holly to do all the singing, and a thinner and more beautiful girl, Lacey, would lip-sync and get all the credit. Holly goes for it because after all, she wanted to sing. Contractually bound to secrecy, Holly is more than happy to sit backstage and write in her journal while Lacey shimmies in the limelight and basks in the fame. Before she knows it, Holly is friends with Serena, the pop-star daughter of a music-mogul, flirting with an intern, and developing a strange half-friendship with Lacey. When Grayson Frost, the biggest country star in America, and coincidentally, a former school bully begins dating Lacey, Holly hopes that he won’t recognize or torment her. Through a series of embarrassing and weird events, Holly gets to know Grayson and learns that he is much nicer and more mature than he was four years ago. Holly is horrified when she starts falling for him. When Grayson admits he fell for Lacey’s voice, what is a girl to do when she can’t legally tell the truth at the moment when the truth matters the most?

Happy Book Birthday, Jennifer!
Did you know that NAMELESS is in development for film by Benderspink! That’s the same company who optioned Victoria Aveyard’s Red Queen and produced the I AM NUMBER FOUR film!

Nameless-cover
Four clans have been at war for centuries: the Kodiak, the Raven, the Wolf and the Ram. Through brutal war tactics, the Ram have dominated the region, inflicting death and destruction on their neighbors.
Seventeen-year-old Zo is a Wolf and a Healer who volunteers to infiltrate the Ram as a spy on behalf of the allied clans. She offers herself as a Ram slave, joining the people who are called the “nameless.” Hers is a suicide mission – Zo’s despair after losing her parents in a Ram raid has left her seeking both revenge and an end to her own misery. But after her younger sister follows her into Rams Gate, Zo must find a way to survive her dangerous mission and keep her sister safe.
What she doesn’t expect to find is the friendship of a young Ram whose life she saves, the confusing feelings she develops for a Ram soldier, and an underground nameless insurrection. Zo learns that revenge, loyalty and love are more complicated than she ever imagined in the first installment of this two-book series.

“Go ahead and do it.” Zo’s legs buckled beneath her.
Gryphon let her sink to her knees on the cold earth.

“You can throw my body into the river when you’re done.”
The Allies watched the river. Someone would know Tess was
alone. Commander Laden would send a team to retrieve her.
The Ram would move south and the Wolves, with the help
of the Allies, would be prepared to fight. Tess would be free
before the end of this year.

She would.

Joshua joined Zo on the ground and put an arm around her.

“Don’t worry, Zo. Gryphon’s not going to kill you.”
Joshua looked up at Gryphon for reassurance.

“The chief will want to question her.” Gryphon frowned.
“But I’ll speak for her, Joshua.”

“You’ll speak for her?” Joshua jumped to his feet. He had
to crane his neck to meet Gryphon’s cold eyes. “You’ll speak
for her!” He shoved him in the chest with both hands. Gryphon
didn’t even sway from the contact. Joshua pushed him again and
again until his shoving turned to full-on punching. Gryphon just
stood there and took it, watching Zo with a hollow expression.
They all knew what would happen if Gryphon took her back.

Zo couldn’t stand it any longer. “Joshua, stop.” She used
a low tree branch to help her stand. The muscles in her back
throbbed from Gryphon’s rough handling. “I can speak for
myself.”

The poor kid dropped to the ground. His head hung between
his knees, he grabbed two fistfuls of his own red hair.
Zo stepped toward Gryphon. “Send the boy away. For his
own sake.” Zo was in no position to make demands, but the
prospect of losing her life made her bold. She wouldn’t be a
victim any longer.

Gryphon studied her through the curtain of his dark hair.
“He has a right to stay.”

Zo stepped closer until their toes almost touched and the
smoke of her breath reached his dimpled cheek. Her voice
barely carried over the sound of the river. “Kill me here. Don’t
hand me over to the chief’s guards.” The image of the Gate
Master entered her mind. “Please.” Her bright blue eyes met
his. The time for submission had passed.

Gryphon shook his head, his jaw set.

“What?” She shoved him. “Too much of a coward to do the
job yourself? Aren’t you a Ram?” She had to get him angry.
No one would know to help Tess if Zo’s body didn’t end up in
that river.

Gryphon tensed.

Joshua got up from the ground and put a hand on his
mentor’s chest while looking at Zo. “That wasn’t a great thing
to say,” he forced a whisper through his teeth. “I think you
should let me do the negotiating from now on.”

Gryphon pushed Joshua’s hand away. The wrap around his
wounded shoulder was dark with fresh blood. The bandage
needed replacing. “Why did you come to the Gate when you
knew we kill your kind?” he asked.

Zo chose her words carefully. Tess’ life depended upon
them. “Why are you so convinced I’m a Wolf?”
“The Wolf I captured had that same mark on his shoulder.”

Zo opened her mouth to speak but no words came. The
mark of the Allies was a well-kept secret. She wouldn’t be the
one to divulge it. “The waxing moon is a common symbol of
hope. I’m surprised you’ve never seen it before.”

“You look like a Wolf too.” Gryphon’s face colored and he
looked away.

Zo sighed inwardly. It always came back to her cursed face.

“Either kill me or don’t. Nothing I say will sway you.” She
folded her arms and showed him her back. It was the ultimate
sign of disrespect inside the Gate. She braced herself, ready
for him to strike her, but nothing happened.

A lifetime passed before she heard the crunch of his
approaching footsteps.

Gryphon walked around to face her. This was it. Tonight
she would join her parents on the other side of this cruel life.
She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. Please let Tess
be safe. Please let her not mourn my death. Let Commander
Laden find her.

Warm hands clamped down on her tied wrists.

Zo’s eyes shot open and all of her fears raced back in one
swift, agonizing moment: torture, no body for Laden’s men to
find, Tess alone, the Gate Master. “No, no. Don’t take me back
there. Please!” her voice slipped and cracked. “Please! I’ll do
anything! Just don’t take me to the Gate Master!”

Gryphon pressed the blade of his short sword to her neck. “I
don’t trust you, Wolf,” he whispered. “If you ever do anything
to harm my people, I swear I will end your life in a way that
will make you regret ever surviving this night.”
Joshua ran up and hugged Gryphon. “Thank you! Thank
you!”

Gryphon yanked the band from her wrists and walked away,
leaving Joshua and Zo to stare at his back in the moonlight.
Zo sunk to her knees. “I don’t believe it.” She held her
unbound hands to her cheeks, her jaw hung slack.

Joshua put an arm around her. “Welcome to the family, Zo.

I think he likes you.”

Excerpt
“Skybright … ” He tugged her gently to him. “I never feel
as if I can speak of my past with the other monks. Because of my birthmark. Because I’m different. But with you, I … ” He didn’t finish the thought, but instead leaned in and kissed her.
It was like a jolt, quickening her pulse. His mouth was full, firm against her own. He smelled of camphor wood and sweat.
Of boy. His tongue flicked across her lips and instinctively she opened her mouth to him. She gasped when their tongues met.
Warmth pooled in her stomach and spread, till her entire body was roused.
Lit.
His hands had wound around her waist, sneaked under her sleep tunic so she could feel his rough palms against her midriff. They met at the small of her back and slid upward, till his fingers caressed her shoulder blades, and they were crushed against each other.
They kissed until the blood roared in her ears and she felt drunk with desire. Then something ignited inside of her, that now familiar heat, writhing through and pulsing down her legs. Terrified, she shoved his shoulders hard, and he stumbled back, dazed.
Skybright clutched her head between tight fists, willing the blazing heat away. Willing herself not to change. No. Not now.
Not in front of Kai Sen. Her body shook with the effort, still trembling from the kiss they had shared. Terror constricted her chest.
His thumb stroked her cheek, and she jerked away from him.
“What was that?” She tried to catch her breath, and the words came unevenly.
“I’ve always wondered what it was like, to kiss.” His voice sounded low and thick.
“So you decided to experiment on the first handmaid you came across?”
The first handmaid he came across naked in the forest. Humiliation and anger wound tight within her, and she welcomed the emotions. Anything to smother the heat that threatened to rise below.
Kai Sen made a choking noise. “No. Of course not. I wanted to kiss you.” He lifted his hand to touch her again and she slapped it aside. “I like you,” he said quietly. “I’ve seen plenty of servant girls in town, wandering the markets. But you were the only I ever knew brave enough to climb a giant cypress to spy on monks.” He smiled. “You’re the only one I’ve felt I could share my past with–”

“You don’t even know me,” she said. And it felt as if her heart was shattering like brittle porcelain, because Kai Sen could never truly know her. Not ever. “Please go.”
He took a step back, and she hated him for obeying her.
“Will you still meet me in the morning by the creek?” he asked.

Frowning, I walk toward the door and notice it’s been left open. Outside are red drops scattered across the floor. I lean forward, so I can scour the premise, and that’s when I notice the pool of blood lying on the porch.
My eyes widen and I scream.
Stumbling backward inside the house, I slam the door shut with shaky hands.
That blood, is it Arthur’s? What’s going on? Is he here?
Shit, I knew it.
I immediately reach for my umbrella stand and fish out the rifle hidden behind all the umbrellas. I should’ve prepared more for this day, but I didn’t think it would arrive so soon. I lock and load the rifle, turning around quickly to surprise my attacker.
“Show yourself, you motherfucker,” I scream. “I know it’s you.”
“Hello, Vanessa ….” His voice brings me chills to the bone. “Long time, no see.”
“Get the fuck out of my house!” I yell, turning circles.
The voice is coming from everywhere, and I don’t know where he is. If I move, I’m afraid he’ll catch me.
All I hear is vicious, uncontrollable laughter. “Did you miss me? No need to be angry, I’m here now.”
“What do you want?” I scream.
“Oh … you know exactly what I want.” The grim harshness in his voice makes me tremble. “I told you that I’d come for you. Ready or not, here I come, Princess.”
“No! Stay away!” I scream, turning to the hallway. I could swear his voice came from there.
But there’s nothing to be seen.
Nothing except the filthy boot prints on the wooden floor behind me, leading into the hallway to the right.
I follow the trail into my living room, holding out my gun, ready to shoot if I must.
But then the trail suddenly ends.
My lips part in confusion as I wonder where in the hell the dirt has gone. I can’t find the boots anywhere. And then I realize what’s going on.
Too late.
Something is pulled over my head, pulling me into the dark. A bag.
His hands twist and twist until I choke. The gun drops to the floor. He’s suffocating me, and no matter how much I claw at the bag, it won’t break.
The last thing I hear before I pass out is, “Playtime is over. You can’t hide, Princess. Now you’re mine.”

Release Day Blitz & Giveaway ~ Mia and the Bad Boy (Backstage Pass #2) by Lisa Burstein

Mia and the Bad Boy
Release Date: 05/19/15
Entangled Crush

Summary from Goodreads:
This good girl’s about to meet her match…

Ryder Brooks is living the dream—he’s famous, loved by millions of girls, and miserable. All he really wants is to write his own music, not Seconds to Juliet’s sugary sweet pop. In order to do that, though, the “bad boy” of the band will have to play by the rules. And that includes behaving with his new—and super cute—über-good-girl tutor.

Mia Reyes is in fangirl heaven. Tutoring her favorite member of her favorite band? It’s a dream come true…until it turns into a complete nightmare. Ryder is nothing like she thought. He’s crude, arrogant, and pretty much a total jerk. And the worst part? She’s roped into pretending to be his girlfriend so that no one finds out he’s being tutored. Fake kisses, plenty of PDA, and even sharing his hotel room…

But sometimes even the baddest of bad boys needs a little redemption.

His hand framed her chin, tipped it up toward his lips. Just that small touch made it hard for her to breathe. She could feel the pulse in her neck ticking up, her heart rate matching her excitement in a way it never had before.
“I’ve been wanting to do this since our date in St. Louis,” he said with a throaty whisper.
“I’ve been wanting to do this since I taped your poster on my wall,” Mia managed to say.
Ryder’s hand was still on her chin. He nudged in tighter, so she could feel his breath on the skin of her cheeks. She didn’t know what to do with her hands. They were tight at her sides, like she was paralyzed.
“You’re not going to kiss me just because I’m Ryder Brooks, though, right?” he asked with a sly smile.
“No,” Mia said, the words coming easier. She slipped her arms around his waist. His skin was so warm, and his jeans were damp. She felt the muscles of his waist yield to her touch. “When I met you, I kind of hated you, and kissing was not the word with a K that came to mind.”
“King?”
Mia laughed, ripples of heat dripping down her abdomen as Ryder inched his lips closer. “You’re really using your vocabulary.”
“Flash cards,” Ryder bantered back.
“But now,” Mia said, her hands clasped tightly around Ryder’s bare back, “I want to kiss you in a different way. Not because you’re Ryder Brooks, but because you’re you.”
“That’s why I want to kiss you, too.. His lips brushed against her nose first, each cheek, sending bursts of pleasure into every soft part of her.
Mia closed her eyes and puckered her lips, puckered them so hard she thought her face might crack.
She heard Ryder suppress a giggle.
Mia’s eyes popped open. “What?” Her organs turned to ice. She wanted to crawl under the bed.
Ryder ran his finger along her cheek. His other hand slipped up her arm, bringing her closer. “Let me teach you for a change.”
Mia swallowed, afraid if she spoke, this might turn to dust.
Ryder opened his lips and brought them to hers slowly, hovering there, his breath fanning her face. “Don’t pucker. Just do what I do, what I cannot wait to do.”
He pressed her lips open slightly, driving his tongue against them and gliding it against hers until it was in her mouth, sliding against her tongue. Tongue! She’d known this was how people kissed but had never understood the reasoning. Tongues were for tasting, for talking. But now she knew that really they were for this.
Having their mouths connected, Mia mirroring each move Ryder made, created a chemical reaction, flipped a switch. She suddenly knew exactly what to do. Her hands were on his broad chest, running down his tight stomach, his covetable abs. His hands were in her hair, curving against her side. His tongue dipped with hers; his mouth was warm and firm and perfect.
