Book Review ~ Almost Matched (Almost Bad Boys #1) by A.O. Peart

Almost Matched
(Almost Bad Boys #1)
by A.O. Peart

Would you take another shot at love? Or just settle on a friend with benefits?

THEIR HEARTBREAKING PAST WILL MOVE YOU. THEIR PASSION WILL MAKE YOU BLUSH. THEIR ANTICS WILL MAKE YOU LAUGH OUT LOUD.

Twenty-five-year-old Natalie Davenport lugs substantial baggage. One boyfriend after the next has been a total disaster, leaving Natalie distrustful toward the male population in general. So when Colin Hampton crosses her path, she’s cautious. Her heart (and some other body parts!) nudges her to go for it, while her head wants her to run for the hills.

Colin is one of those gorgeous guys who attract women, no matter the age or marital status. With a successful career at a popular Seattle radio station, hard body, and charming personality, he is the complete package. But something dark lurks in the corners of his soul; some murky experience that has changed him—maybe for the better, but maybe for the worse.

Will he steal her heart and stomp over it like other guys did?

Will she let him into her heavily fortified world despite herself?

Or will they settle somewhere in the middle—establishing the emotional boundaries to protect them from falling in love?

****************************************************************
This contemporary romantic comedy blends humor, sensuality, and angst, with zany characters and witty dialogue.

***Warning: contains sexual situations (some quite vivid!), profanity, and a high dose of sarcasm. Oh, and there is a lot of appletini and beer drinking.
May not be appropriate for readers under 18 years old. Not intended for prudes and killjoys with no sense of humor***

THE SERIES:
The Almost Bad Boys series are the stories of four feisty twenty-something women who refuse to let their past drag them down.

This book has been on my Kindle since May of this year and now after reading it, I am really mad at myself for waiting so long to read this amazing book.  Almost Matched was a totally fun, romantic, sexy and emotional story!  I loved all of the characters, especially Colin {{sigh}}.  I really don't do 'Book Boyfriends', but if I did, Colin would be the one!  Pure 100% Male Perfection! Such a sexy, kind man, but he has a really sad past history with another girl which is threatening to come between him and Natalie.  Just when he was opening up to Natalie about what the heck was going on with him, book one ended.  But despite the abrupt ending, I really did love the fun and witty banter between Natalie and her best friends.   Ms. Peart is a really great writer who knows how to get the reader connected with the characters, wanting to know more about them and wishing they were your BFF's!  The chemistry between Natalie and Colin is off the charts and I can't wait to see if this relationship works out because these two are perfect for each other.

I highly recommend Almost Matched, but you might as well one-click Almost Broken Up and Almost Too Far at the same time because you will want to know how this story ends immediately!

Synopsis
Don’t let my petite and innocent appearance fool you, because I’m one person you don’t want to cross. I’m Micah, the youngest member of Resurrection…If only they knew how young. My fake ID says I’m twenty-one.
And I will be…in four years.
What can I say? I blossomed early. Home sucked, so I left, determined to do something with my life.
Landing the gig as lead vocalist in the band was a dream come true. I’ve worked hard to make something of myself and nothing is going to ruin that for me.
Then He showed up.
He’s hot as hell and so into me. But he’s also twenty-five.

I don’t want to lie to him, but if the truth comes out I’ll lose everything, including him.

Excerpt
He reached into his pocket and pulled out his ipod. “Put on some music if you like.”

I took it, letting my fingers glide over his. His eyes darted toward me briefly and my heart jumped. I quickly looked down, busying myself with his music collection. I ran through artists until I came across Severed. Smiling, I clicked play.

“You have your own music in here,” I said with a giggle.
He shrugged. “If I don’t appreciate it, then why should I expect anyone else to?”

“I guess. I just think it’s cute. Like an actor going to see themselves at the cinema.”

“You don’t think Nic Cage or Brad Pitt go to the movies?” he asked in mock horror.

“I don’t know. I met Brad Pitt once in Starbucks.”

He chuckled. “I can just imagine how that went down.”

“What’s that supposed to mean?” I asked, narrowing my eyes.

“Well, you were kind of freaked out when you realized who I was. Meeting someone actually famous? You’d lose the plot,” he laughed.

“Well, in my defense, I didn’t have posters of Brad Pitt all over my walls—” I shut my mouth, but it was too late. No, no, no…
“You had posters of me on your walls?” he repeated, amused. “Micah, that is adorable.”

“Shut up,” I mumbled, coving my face with my hands. He chuckled loudly next to me, clearly not ready to let this go.

“No! No laughing. Just shut up and drive.”
