When a powerful witch has an idea that will get her back to her home world known as,Wanderamid, it backfires.

The spell she created the night before had already begun. The clouds in the sky became thicker and darkness increased greatly with silent flickering lights of lightning. It was too late to put a stop to it, and no one could change it, not even her.

EXCERPT

Ms. Winterton gasped when the officers pointed their firearms, straight at them. Her mouth froze open, surprised by their reaction.
“No,” Officer Morley began to explain calmly, “She is not a witch. Please put the guns down. We just want to show you, what you’ve been asking us.”
“That book just grew, Morley! We saw it! Only a witch could do that!” Officer Wysor shouted, pointing his gun away from them and onto the grimoire.
Officer Oxnard remained speechless and wide-eyed.
“She’s trying to find her daughter, just like Ms. Kennings is trying to find her son. Now if you want to see what is going on, you can’t get excited like this or we won’t be able to show you. Do you understand that?” He tried to convince them as firmly and calmly as possible.
Officer Oxnard nodded, signaling him to lower his gun as he did, still keeping it in hand. They were not fully convinced to put them away completely.
“Look at their eyes!” Ms. Kennings shouted, pointing at the three felines that came out from the corner, with glowing green eyes.
She startled the officers and they quickly aimed their guns at the felines.
Officer Morley rolled his eyes. “Will you sit down? They’re only cats!”
“I never saw cats with eyes like those,” she responded stiffly.
“They’re not normal… I mean… they’re normal, but… well… I don’t know what I mean. All I know is that they won’t harm you. Please, sit so we can get on with this,” he tiredly shook his head.
The officers and Ms. Kennings sat down slowly while they kept a close watch on the felines. Ms. Winterton took a deep breath as she thought about where to begin her story, and how to make it believable as possible, as her eyes made contact with those she had to convince.
“Ms. Kennings," she spoke softly, "… Rena and Jodon are together, in another world."
“They killed them!” Her eyes widened with fear. “They killed….”
“No! No!” Officer Morley immediately stood.
The other officers stood right after and aimed their guns at them, again.
“What are you doing?”
“You heard her! You both killed them!” Officer Wysor yelled. “I’m placing you both under arrest! Anything….”
“Stop, Wysor!” he demanded and then calmly added, “We didn’t kill them. They're alive.”
“What?” Ms. Kennings asked stunned. “Then where are they?”
“Ms. Winterton told you. They’re in another world.”
“They did kill them! Bring me to my son!”

Book Blitz! ~ Beyond the Reach of Judgement by Jo Bissell ~ Excerpt & Giveaway

Beyond the Reach of Judgement
by Jo Bissell

Publication date: April 19th 2014
Genres: New Adult, Paranormal

~Synopsis~
“Did we leave any sin out?” She replied with a forced weak laugh.

“No. Between the two of us, I think we have managed to cover them all.” He mumbled as that uncomfortable lump in his gut returned.

Julien Rene Durant was once a good man. Born in France, he took the oath as a Jesuit Priest in the 1600s. He dedicated his life to spreading the Gospel. Now, he was a monster surviving off the blood of others; killing for survival even as he wished for nothing other than for his own extinction. After almost four centuries of guilt and hopelessness, he encounters someone who might just be able to rescue the good man trapped within the monster, but will his judgements deny him a second chance?

Mary Ruth Jacobson-Ryan is nothing special; a small town girl stuck in a rut. Married to the local Iraqi War Hero who turned out not to be the perfect guy she fell in love with before the war, she is desperate for a way out. When things turn from bad to worse, she runs with plans to never look back. She quickly finds, however, that her search for a better future may lead her down a path with no future at all.

~Excerpt~
“I have to know your story.” She leaned in to him again. “Please?”
He glanced around again and back down into his glass. “Are you quite sure? It is an ugly story, especially considering the occasion.” He looked up into her eyes, causing her breath to catch in her throat.
“Yes.” She held his gaze and gave a small nod. “Please?”
He took another slow drink of wine and refilled his glass. “I sailed from my home in France to Sainte-Marie-au-pays-des-Hurons, a Mission in New France, which is now Ontario, Canada. It was 1640. My mission was simple; build a relationship with the Natives and reveal God to them.”
He glanced at her and back to his wine. “It was all very exciting at first, especially after years in study and contemplation and then the monotonous and grueling journey to get there.”
He paused, and Ruth struggled to contain her urge to rush him on. She could tell by the look in his eyes that he was lost in memory.
“We were well received in the beginning. We tried to learn their ways, their words, and their myths. We lived in their lodges, shared their work, spoke their tongue, and ate their food. Once we could understand how they thought and behaved, we could use that knowledge to adapt the Gospel to something they could understand. At least that was the plan.
“The Hurons, among whom we lived, were a fascinating, if savage, people. And our mission seemed to be moving forward as predicted...” He looked away as his jaw tightened.
“Then what happened?” she urged.
“There was constant conflict between the Hurons and the Iroquois, a warring neighboring nation. Then there were diseases and crop failures. Eventually, the Huron started to blame our presence for their misfortunes. Other Jesuits had already fallen victim to unspeakable tragedies in the years before my arrival. I ….”
They were interrupted by the arrival of the waitress. “Have you two decided what you would like?”
Ruth glanced over at him, and he gave her a nod. “I think so. We’d like to start with your appetizer sampler. Then I would like tonight’s special, with the soup. Thank you.” Biting her lip, she hoped she not ordered too much. She did not want Julien to assume she was taking advantage of his generosity.
“And you, sir?”
“I will take the same.” He smiled politely.
“Of course. We will have those out as soon as possible. Please let me know if there is anything else you need.”
“Of course,” he said.
As soon as the waitress stepped out of earshot, Ruth leaned back over the table. “So the Hurons were blaming you for war and disease...”
“Yes. Which made our mission much more difficult. That and the fact that the Iroquois were seeking full control of the French fur trade. Then there were strange whispers about the arrival of the Devil in the woods. ”
“Okay, so then what happened?”
“One day like any other day, in 1642, while I was assisting in gathering materials for one of the shelters, I was taken captive by a group of Iroquois warriors.” Again, he paused, using his wine glass as an excuse to stop the story.
“And?” She knew her eyes were wide with anticipation.
“And...It is an experience I have tried for a long time to forget.” He trailed off.
“Oh, forgive me. I don’t mean to be insensitive.” Feeling her face start to flush, she took a drink of her wine and stared into the glass in silence.
Their waitress approached again, and placed the large plate of appetizers on the table. “Can I get you more wine?”
“Please,” Julien said.
“My pleasure.” She smiled and left.
Meanwhile, Ruth picked at the food as she sneaked a glance across the table.
“It was the first time in my life up until that point that I had ever questioned my faith...”
Looking up, she found him staring directly into her eyes, causing the breath to catch in her throat. “You don’t have to continue.”
“The tortures went on for hours. Beatings and whippings and burns... threats with arrows through my heart and scalping. When I asked why, they told me, ‘because the Devil made them do it!’” He laughed.
She cringed at the sound. “I don’t understand.”
“After they had pulled out my fingernails and driven stakes through my feet..”
“Oh how terrible!” she gasped. “I’m so sorry...I didn’t mean to...”
“They said, ‘We hope your God can save you from our Devil.’ Then suddenly, I was alone in the woods, staked to the ground by my feet.”
The waitress interrupted with another bottle of wine. “Thank you,” they replied in unison and she left the open bottle on the table after refilling both their glasses.
“Julien, please...”
“That’s when She found me.”
“Oh?” She couldn’t help but be curious at this point, despite the horridness of what she had heard.
“Tawiskala. She was at once beautiful and frightening. I was not sure whether to scream or cry or beg for mercy.” He glanced around the room several times before he leaned in closer as his voice lowered.
“She spoke to me in the Native tongue. ‘Why are you here, Fair One?’
“‘To honor God,’ I replied.
“‘Tell me, Black Robe, do you fear death?’ she whispered in my ear, causing me to shiver.
“‘No. I have the promise of eternal life should I be deemed worthy,’ I remember saying.
“‘I too give eternal life, should I deem you worthy. Allow me to alleviate your suffering, Holy Man.’
“‘I suffer willingly.’
“‘But needlessly.’ She pulled the stakes from my feet, causing me to cry out.
“‘This is nothing more than a test. I will not give in to your temptation, She-Devil.’ She dug her claws into my wounds, causing me to struggle against her, but it was useless. Next, she licked away my tears as she laughed. The sound made me vomit.” He stared into his wine glass.
Holding her breath, Ruth waited for him to continue. She almost cried out in surprise when their waitress reappeared with their dinner plates.
“Can I get you anything else right now?”
“No, we’re fine,” Julien responded. His eyes followed the waitress as she left them. “Then her cold touch relieved my pain. Her kisses healed my wounds and...” His lips tightened into a frown.
Biting her knuckle, she felt her pulse quicken. “And?”
“And then..” He looked away from her as his fists clenched beside his glass. “...Eventually, she drank.” He reached up to his own neck as his eyes closed.
He looked at her again, his pale eyes still distant. “Until my body went numb and my vision went dark. I thought I was dead. I felt myself praying for forgiveness as I hoped it would end soon.” He took a large gulp from his glass.
“And then, a sweet taste passed my lips.” He took another drink and closed his eyes. “The numbness was overcome by an icy-hot fire as my entire being convulsed.”
Covering her mouth with her hand, Ruth’s eyes widened.
“When I opened my eyes the next evening, I could think of only one thing.” His eyes shot open, and he stared straight through her.
“What?” She swallowed hard.
“Blood.”
Ruth shivered. “Oh.”
“Tawiskala was prepared. One of the Iroquois warriors lay bound nearby.” He frowned.
“It disgusted and thrilled me, how easily I was able to end that life. And once he had nothing left to give, I set off in search of more. Six people died by my hand that first night alone.” He emptied the bottle into his glass. “I can still remember it like it was last night. Each face. Each scream.” Lifting his glass, he took another deep sip.
She said nothing for a long time. She couldn’t find the right words as her mind tried to comprehend the violence he described. Finally, she mumbled, “I see.”
“But enough about that.” He finished his wine in one long gulp. “Let us enjoy this lovely meal. Shall we?” He smiled at her, although his eyes lacked the same enthusiasm.

PROMO BLITZ ~ Throbbing Hearts by Sabrina Lacey ~EXCERPT

Throbbing Hearts 1
by Sabrina Lacey
Sizzling New Adult Romance

Date Published: March 19, 2014

Brendan Clark doesn't know I exist. But tonight, I'm going to change that. For the first time in four painfully long years, he's single. I've been waiting for this, my heart racing every time I see him. I finally have a chance and I'm going to take it. Tonight I will touch those kissable lips... and he'll see it, too - that we're meant for each other. If only I can stop shaking...

~EXCERPT~

Annie
Totally over stupidity-saturated college parties like this one. Wishing I was back in bed. Still heavy, heavy, heavy in my Goth phase. If you don’t like it you can fuck right off.
________

I ask Corrine, “Why did I come to this stupid thing again?” as she snakes her way through too many faces I pretend not to know. These people are all friends (ish) with her, but with me? Not so much.
“You came because I made you! You can’t stay stuck behind a computer every night, Annie! How are you ever going to get laid?” She throws a look my way that says I should know these things.
“You mean fall in love. How am I ever going to fall in love,” I correct her. Even with the dyed black hair, black lipstick, black wardrobe – I’m a hopeless romantic.
She snorts disapproval and stands up on the toes of her already high-heels so she can peek over the mass of stupid. “I see booze! Come on!”
“I can’t wait.”
My hand gets encased in hers and I am dragged by force. Corinne is the sitting-on-the-back-of-a-motorcycle kind of beautiful. No tiaras for this one. She’ll wear pink, but it’s gotta be hot pink. Her hair isn’t just dyed blonde, it’s platinum. Her jewelry is a little too heavily applied, as is her red lipstick. Makeup around her green eyes is the only thing she keeps low-key. She’s a little bit on the trashy side and I really like that about her. You wouldn’t catch me dead around a pastel-wearing girlie-girl. Corinne’s not afraid to swear, get dirty, and be maybe a lot slutty. Vicariously, I live through her wild side. She’s fine with that, because everyone needs a cheerleader and I’m her biggest. I just cheer from behind a sarcastic grin and dry witticisms, that’s all.
When we get to the multitude of inebriation materials, she turns to me. “Falling in love is an antiquated notion. We don’t need men. They need us. We center them. And from them, we get sex. Hot sex, if we’re lucky. And if we’re not lucky, we move on.”
I watch her grab the gin bottle, and I almost scream, “No! No gin. I can’t even think of gin without vomiting up the last three years of my life.”
She drops it back to the table. “Oh yeah. That was a fun night. If fun equals a nightmare. How ‘bout this?” She holds up a bottle that says Chopin. I lean in closer and see that it’s some highfalutin vodka. “This good?”
I shrug. “Let’s give it a shot.”
“Shots! Yes!!”
“Uh oh.” My tone is as dry as a scone left out for five days and then two more. “We’re doing shots. Great.”
Corinne pours while talking. “Look, you. You’re making Marilyn Manson jealous with that outfit. Your social skills are bested by mutes. We need to loosen you up if we’re going to get you any action – like EVER.”
My tongue plays with the roof of my mouth as I suck on her game plan. “Why do you even hang out with me?”
“Because I love you, Squid. And you make me feel good when I’m around you. You get me, and you don’t judge. Do you know how rare that is?” She calls me squid because of the black hair dye I’m addicted to. I’m naturally strawberry blonde and even though the lowest percentage of the population is born strawberry blonde – I could give a fuck. It’s too puppies, kittens and roses for me.
“That’s very sweet. I may throw up.” We tap our cups together with no celebratory clink bouncing back, thanks to the plastic. Very low end, this party. I vow that when I’m all grown up and have got my own place, I will have enough glassware to throw a party without red plastic cups sullying the classy festivities. I drink the vodka and wince. “Blech… add some cranberry or something?”
With her hand, Corinne shakes her platinum hair and musses it up all sexy style like she’s readying herself for battle against the weaker sex, and I don’t mean women. “Hello. Shots aren’t supposed to taste good. Drink up.”
“Eesh.” I drink it back and cough once. Just once because her laser-beam eyeballs stop me from making a scene. “Sorry.”
“You’re not a lost cause!” She chuckles. “You’ve still got these.” She points to my eyes, which – I have to admit – are probably my best feature. They’re bright cotton candy blue. I am fond of them. Why do you think I smudge so much eyeliner around them? “And these!” She reaches out and grabs my boobs, which are cleverly hidden behind a baggy shirt and jacket, not to mention several silver stone-pendant necklaces. Each stone has a different healing property: protection, communication and love. I fancy myself a bit of a witch. Or spiritual. Or whatever.
“Anybody besides you touches my boobs and I’ll punch them in the face. And you can let them go now, too.” She laughs and obeys. I’m not into girls. Neither is Corinne. But I don’t really mind her grabbing them. Someone’s got to.
“Hey!” she barks at a girl pushing through to the booze-table. The girl eyeballs her and a silent war is won by neither. Corinne looks back to me. “Does that include Brendan Clark? Would you punch him in the face if he did this?” She grabs them again and giggles.
My heart jumps out and kisses her for saying his name. But then it goes dead all over again and I swat her hands away. “Brendan’s got a girlfriend, remember?”
Corinne leans in and whispers, “Not anymore. Word is, he dumped her right before they were supposed to go away and celebrate their graduation with a good boinking.” She eyes me. “Interesting news, isn’t it?”
See this is the problem with friends. They see things you don’t want them to see. Which means you can’t live in happy denial. I’ve not told anyone how I feel about Brendan Clark, not even her. But somehow she spotted me staring at him with my mouth open one too many times. Ever since, it’s been like dragging Lindsey Lohan to rehab to get her to drop it.
But still my heart pirouettes throughout my insides at the news.
Brendan’s single?
I blink at Corinne, stunned and speechless. Though, Brendan has all of my heart, he has no idea who I am. He is beyond out of my league. I’ve only said “hey” to him once and it was a disaster. I said it because he said it first. But then it turned out he was talking to his buddy Mark who was walking up behind me. Needless to say, I slinked back into the shadows where it’s nice and quiet… and dark enough for me to cry.
I shrug and look away so she can’t see me lying. “I don’t know how many times I have to tell you this, Marilyn, but I really don’t care what Brendan does.” She calls me Squid. I call her Marilyn after Marilyn Monroe, thanks to her hair and sexy goddess style. I may have gotten the short end of the nickname stick.
Her eyes narrow and she leans in to see if she can decipher my code. “Really?”
Avoiding her, I mutter without care, “Yeah. I’m not interested.”
“Not at all?”
“Not in the slightest.”
“He’s walking up behind you.”
“Let’s do another shot.”
Corinne laughs hard and turns to shove that girl out of the way. Successful, she starts singing “Shots shots shots shots” by the band LMFAO, and pours way too generously.
I don’t dare look around, but I don’t need to. Before I even lay eyes on Brendan, I hear his voice, low and deeper than most other guys and already my knees feel like noodles. His voice boasts his advanced levels of testosterone, and the place that aches for him between my legs moistens instantly. He’s here. He’s walking up behind me. Now is my chance to talk to him! To let him know I exist. I eavesdrop and hear him talking about Mendocino, something about a…
“Here you go.” Corinne slides a half-full cup back in my hand and I lose the last part of what was being said.
I take it from her, head down, focusing hard on the red plastic. I know that when I turn around, I will be face to face with the man I plan to have babies with. First I should probably tell him my name.
“Thanks.” I drink it before she even has a chance to toast or join me.
She stares at my speed, reads correctly into it, and whoops loudly, “Now it’s a party! Here, have another!”
I don’t argue, holding my cup out. I turn my head, say nothing, and stare at the man I have every intention of marrying. He’s exchanging words with jerkoff Mark and that asshole Tommy, but all I can see is Brendan’s mouth moving like the world just slowed down to make me the happiest girl in it. His lips are so full and pouty, and his teeth are straight from the braces he still had on during the beginning of his sophomore year, the I first time I saw him, three years ago. I was a freshman, and apparently invisible.
