Far off in the future, the climate has officially become out of control, food is becoming harder to find, and a Blood Plague caused by mosquitoes is killing off the human race.  Prenna and others from her Community travel back in time in an attempt to change the events that lead to the catastrophic downfall of the world.  Among the many rules the time travelers must follow, two important ones are (1) they must not tell anyone who they are and (2) they are not allowed to become close or intimate with anyone.  These rules work out great for most of the community, but with Ethan in the picture, Prenna wants to throw those rules out the window.

The Here and Now by Ann Brashares is a wonderfully written novel of forbidden love and the sacrifices that must be made for the overall good of the human race.  There are so many twists to this story that I found myself rapidly turning each page in order to unravel the mystery that was unfolding before my eyes.  I truly enjoyed reading this amazing book and applaud Ms. Brashares for creating and sharing this beautiful story.
