NEW ADULT
POST - APOCALYPTIC ROMANCE SERIES
Synopsis
In
2021 the world as we know it changed. The government collapsed, and the worst
characteristics of human nature were shown as the world fell into ruins. Years
after The Fall, the Tribes that were established are still at war. They still
fight to keep what they pillaged, and most of all, they fight to keep their
lies a secret. In a world filled with deception, nothing is as it seems.
I was born into this world.
Hunter Marks was molded into this world; a General— a person cold and harsh. A person meant to kill me.
We were told to just believe.
We were taught to never question.
We’re supposed to be robots, and accept our roles in this altered society.
Too bad Hunter and I don’t follow the rules.
And we’re a hell of a lot stronger than they ever thought possible.
They’ve been searching for the world’s deadliest weapon.
It’s me.
And I’m not following the leader any more.

Excerpt
I rubbed my eyes,
dry from being open so long without blinking. “It all actually sounds
plausible, but I still feel like I’m still missing something.”
I opened my eyes as Hunter let out a breath,
and his jaw clenched.
“You are.”
I shook my head
as my stomach rolled. His eyes were hard as he calculated his words.
“It was okay for
the first few years…but then the wars started. I was never really able to
handle the things my father asked me to do…made me do.”
I reached forward
to his hands, and he flinched as he pulled away.
“I’d already
killed people by the time I was sixteen, Kate! You don’t get what this world
has done to people…to me!”
“Why would your
father let that happen?”
Hunter scoffed,
tilting his head back so he was looking at the ceiling. His jaw clenched and
unclenched, but his muscles remained tensed with the vein protruding in his
anger and frustration.
“I think he
figured I’d be a stronger General if I learned on the front lines. He came to
the base officially when I was ten. He gave us reports of what had happened to
the world, and then he let us know what was coming for us.”
His chin dropped
to his chest as he squeezed his eyes shut before shaking his head and opening
them to meet mine. My chest hollowed as I stared at him. I didn’t need him to
go into detail about the wars and what they had done to him. I could see it in
his eyes as they flashed. I knew one thing for certain; he was not the person
he was molded to be. He fought an internal war with it, knowing that voicing
his opinion would only get him killed.
