Teenager Ingrid Liebschreiber is devastated
when her parents move the family from their native Munich to Los Angeles in the
late 1950s. Homesick, she accepts a neighbor's offer to get her a job as a
showgirl in Las Vegas. Intent on earning enough money to return to Germany, she
must grow up quickly in the neon jungle — where she is pursued by high rollers
and headliners, including a vacationing Elvis.
Life's twists and turns land Ingrid in New York in the Swinging 1960s — where she is romanced by Armand: a strong, quiet, handsome businessman in "construction." Most girls dream of Mr. Right, and Ingrid's hard-won independence is challenged when she falls in love.
Will she find true romance — a man who can love her as much as she loves him? Or is "happily ever after" just a crazy fairytale?

Love
Target was such a delightfully fun read. Just looking at the cover let me know right
off that this was going to be a good book with an interesting story. The story was well-written and well-paced -
so well in fact, I was quite surprised that this was the authors first
book. Ingrid was such a fun loving
character and you can't help but fall in love with her because of her naivety
and her strong will. The historical aspects of the story made it extremely
interesting and the illustrations really made the story that much more fun to
read. This one had me desperate to keep
reading because I really wanted Ingrid to find her true love. She was definitely a "love target" with her looks and her personality, but she
was always finding herself with the wrong man. Can Ingrid finally find her one
true love? Well, anything is possible and this story proves it.
I would definitely recommend this book if you
are looking to read a book with passion, romance and a look back in time to a
decade that gave us Elvis, Harry Belafonte and so much more. I would not recommend this book to young kids
as it does touch on drugs, sex and some violence.
Love
Target will make you laugh, make your cringe and make
you cry, but in the end, it will leave you happy and satisfied.
