Armed with a passion for classic B-grade horror movies, a script co-written by his twin brother, and a wicked crush on his death-obsessed neighbor; hardcore horror fan Jason Nightshade must finish his student film.
But his plans are derailed when the children of suburban Silver Creek start disappearing – his twin brother among them. Battling a possessed video camera, a crazy zombie dog, a monstrous bully, and a frighteningly broken down family life, Jason embarks on a mission to find his lost brother so the two can write an ending for his story.

As any horror fan knows, saving the day won’t be easy, as Jason finds himself forced to face the real world where death isn’t just a splash of fake blood on a camera lens.

WHAT READER’S ARE SAYING:

“Horror Business is, more than anything, an old-school horror story, digging deep into King’s meticulous nostalgia, processed through the postmodernism ofScream, filtered at turns through the nerdiness of Dawson’s Creek and Super 8, and then drenched in the blackness of a teenage boy’s brain.” – Keith McLeary, Author

“What the author really captures here is not just a skin-crawling tale of monsters. He shows us where the real horror lies, in the awkward development of children into teens, the fearful uncertainty.” – Matt E. Lewis, The Radvocate

“Horror Business combines intelligence and entertainment into a particularly creepy read.” – Jennifer Bardsley, Author

Book Review ~ Fingers in the Mist by O'Dell Hutchison

"Mind your manners and do what's right.
This will keep you safe at night.
But if you give yourself to sin,
You will let the Redeemers in.
If God's path is not your goal,
Then the Redeemers will take your soul."

Sound pretty creepy, uh?  Well, you have no idea how creepy this story is!  Eerily creepy. Horrifyingly creepy.  And gosh dang it, LOVED it!

As penance for their sins, marked households must sacrifice one member of their family to the Redeemers.   Seven unlucky souls, including sixteen-year old Caitlyn, must accept that they along with the town have no say in the matter.  The Redeemers are only fulfilling the Lord's work and they must comply.  The town basically shuts down for seven days.  No electricity, running water for a few hours a day and the fear that if you are caught out of your house when the fog rolls in, your death is certain. Oh, and they aren't able to leave the town because you will be stopped - and killed.  This is a small sacrifice for the many luxuries that the citizens have in their small but very prosperous and peaceful town.  As the marked are taken away, it is up to Caitlyn to stop the ancient evil that has plagued the town for centuries.  But how can one teenage girl stop the madness?  Well you see, Ms. Caitlyn has a pretty awesome weapon in her arsenal and she is determined to kick some serious butt!

Before I even read the synopsis of Fingers in the Mist, I had to read it.  Yes, I judge a book by its cover – I admit it, and I am not ashamed.  I mean look at this cover.  So dark, so creepy and the blood spatters instantly let the reader know that they are about to embark on a truly horrifying experience.  Did the story inside the cover meet my high expectations? Boy did it!  This eerie and horrifying story had me hooked from the very beginning and it was impossible to put down as the author took me on a journey that tested the limits of my imagination.   I really enjoyed the unique blend of horror, paranormal and sci-fi elements in this well-written story that flowed seamlessly and effortlessly.  And the ending - well, I did not see it coming at all and can only hope that the next installment of this series comes out soon.

Fingers in the Mist is a definite must read for any fan of horror/paranormal especially someone who loves Stephen King.  Give this one a try - you will not regret it!

I take a step toward him, and the wind rushes around me. A deep rumbling comes from overhead, and I suddenly realize that what I thought was thunder before isn’t thunder at all. A murder of crows, at least a hundred or more, fly through the sky, the beating of their wings rolling in thunderous waves. All activity in the square stops as all three-hundred-fifty-three townsfolk look up at the sky.

The crows fly in a perfect circle over my head. It’s not the town square they’re circling. It’s me.

One of the birds breaks formation and dive bombs the stage, landing with a heavy thunk and an explosion of feathers. Two more hit the ground, diving at people like miniature missiles. The crows start to fall like rain. Some of them hit the ground and fall silent, the power of their descent breaking their necks. People scream, and I see several of them rushing for shelter in the nearby church, others flocking to their cars as the remaining crows swoop between them. It’s like a scene straight out of that old Alfred Hitchcock movie.
