Book Blast & Giveaway ~ The Brother's Keep by Tessa Stockton #KeepBlast

Four brothers... Four maidens... Four challenges...

Publication Date: May 6, 2015
Genre: YA Romantic Fantasy
Series: The Brother's Keep (4 Novellas in 1)

Four brothers are appealing in appearance and stature. Yet beneath the striking features, magnitude and charm, they are monsters, for each one of them have fallen to darkness and are cursed for all time. Possessed with unique power, along with the wrath to destroy, the brothers consume all in their paths …until unlikely maidens challenge them apiece.

Each of the four young maidens ventures out, vulnerable and alone, to battle unknown elements, demons, and strange magic. Risking all for the journey, they are set to find the demise of their monster. But the question of motive begins to infiltrate each of their minds. Are they really trying to save their people from the harm of the monster or redeem a heartless being for the sake of love? Because somehow, while daring, their own hearts are stolen in what could be the quickest path to destruction, the greatest betrayal of all.

Along the way, meet Lily of the Valley, Bright & Morning Star, Promise the King, and The Messenger, characters potentially aiding these impressionable young women who find themselves quite lost in the keeps of alluring yet unscrupulous brothers.

WIND’S ARIA
“Who are you?”
He pushed further back into the shadows as she strode closer. “Someone you need not know.”
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
When he didn’t answer, she sighed.
“What a strange, terrible day,” she mumbled. “Well, at least tell me your name . . .”
He stood, speechless, knowing he shouldn’t be there at all—conversing with a Meleyan—especially not their musical deliverer that he was set to doom the day after tomorrow.
A peculiar grumbling interrupted her insistence, to his relief.
“Sorry.” She patted her stomach. He could see, even in the blackened night, how her face turned a deeper shade of red than her hair. “I’ve forgotten to eat. I guess I’m hungrier than I realized.”
He plucked an apple from the tree he’d nearly become a part of and held it out to her. The girl approached tentatively. She reached for the fruit but recoiled when her fingers brushed his.
“Is touching me so horrible?” he asked.
Her jaw dropped open and her delicate brow furrowed. She inclined her head. “It . . . hurt.”
“How?” he asked, for her fingers felt good to him, soothing. Warm. He wanted to try again.
“I don’t know how to explain . . .”
“Hum.” Unsatisfied with the answer, he tossed the apple to her and watched as she crunched her teeth into it.

SEA GOD’S SIREN
“You’re not being very nice.” Syrena glanced in the direction of an especially loud wave that crashed against the shore, reaching to kiss the tips of her toes. She pulled her legs in and rested her head on her knees.
The three sisters lingered in silence for a spell, absorbing the sun’s offering for the day.
“Well, anyway,” Steffi said. “It’s high time you got over your fear of the sea. You’ve lived at its edge your entire life and you haven’t even put your feet in.”
“I don’t have to. And I don’t need to listen to you.” Syrena didn’t budge.
Gwyn snorted. “Grumpy this morning. . . .”
Syrena stood then, brushing off sand. She took several steps into the unknown, this time without her sisters, trying to feel her way back home but stumbled over driftwood.
“Here,” Gwyn said impatiently. “We’ll help you. We always do, you know. It’s because we love you and want to see you happy.”
“I know,” Syrena whispered. “Love you, too. Thanks,” she said, as her sisters grabbed a hand each and led her up the path from the beach.
A head popped out of the water not far from the coastline. Not one of the sisters noticed the keen eyes that watched the back of one girl in particular and had done so every day for a very long time. The wave he sent almost reached her this time, pulling her into his world. When would he ever hold her again?
Syrena.
Dagon dove to the darkest, deepest crook of his domain and sulked.

TREE LORD’S ORACLE
Gaping, Arekel tried to find words but couldn’t speak—only stare. Her heart palpitated in fear, yet she couldn’t pull away from him—couldn’t move.
He cocked his head. His brow furrowed. He pressed closer as if examining her. His snarl slowly wilted.
A strange sort of languish grew on the man’s face. His mouth and jaw shifted. Evil prevailed in him, yet it seemed as if Arekel opened a door to a dark room and in its depth a flicker of light, though very small, subsisted. In an odd way, it made her ache.
With tentativeness the man finally took hold of her face . . . but then his grip began to soften. He inclined his head again. “Warm,” he said, as if he’d never felt warmth. A long, cold finger delicately traced the line of her jaw. His voice purred like silk. “Fortunate,” he said, one side of his mouth curling upward. “You will live another day.”

ICE DANCER’S HOLD
Sasha’s heart hammered against her chest. She stared at Kilian, distrusting the vampyre. But after he had lifted her hands and brushed her palms with his sensuous lips, he sat upright with a deeply furrowed brow. “I don’t want to hurt you.” She could detect the tendon in his jaw that shifted as he glanced out the window at the falling snow. “That’s what’s strange.” He released her hands and stood.
She watched him, and felt the cloud of doubt that seemed to materialize from nowhere.
“The province from where I came is in the middle of an arctic.” He sighed. “My fortress is made of ice.” He lit a candle and then moved again toward the windows, whispering, “How I miss it.”
“I’m sorry for your unhappiness, Master.”
He turned partway and said, “Yes, you’ve said that before. At the water’s edge.”
          “It’s true.”
“Well, then, I thank you.” He pursed his lips. “You are virtuous.”
          She bowed her head.
He exhaled what sounded like the weight of his and her worlds combined. “Walk with me, Sasha.”
          “I beg your pardon, Master?”
“A stroll. Come.” He extended his arm. Around his other arm draped a fur coat while heavy boots appeared at his feet.
She didn’t question his magic, but donned the items and then took his hand. “Will you not be cold, Master?”
“I cannot be touched by what I am. I am the cold, my dear.”

For whatever reason, Sasha felt glad Kilian didn’t address her as his sweet like he had Princess Kristyana. When he’d called her my dear, the endearment sounded dipped in a degree of respect. But that couldn’t be. She rubbed the fading sleep from her eyes. She was a slave and he, her master; she a fae and he a vampyre. Vampyres and faes didn’t go well together.

Irving Amir hates being called a genie. He’s a Djinn, and he is none too happy to be in the service of Glory, who is as intolerable, and beautiful, as humans come. Now he owes her his gratitude for freeing him and three wishes. Damn his luck.

But an arrow through the shoulder alerts Irving to the fact that he is being hunted, and after a truce dinner with Glory ends with them both almost being killed, hating each other goes right out the window. I felt Irving before I saw him. My stomach fluttered with the usual nervous excitement and I knew he was nearby. Shifting my bag with Irving’s Chronolier to the other shoulder, I went to stand on the sidewalk in front of my building, looking both ways down the street while I anticipated his arrival.
Irving finally appeared…beautiful as ever…riding the baddest fucking motorcycle I’d ever seen. It sat low to the ground, so low that the gold piping nearly scraped the road. The thin front tire was positioned a good two feet out in front of the rest of the bike, held in place by two gold arms, while the fat rear tire was kept close by an arch of gold that acted as a protective cover for the wheel. Gold and black fiberglass made up the main body of the bike, and there was just enough of a seat that two could sit comfortably. This bike was bad, and I was sure I would never even glance at my little moped ever again.
Irving was in his usual gear, though it was glamoured behind the facade of jeans, a leather jacket, and a motorcycle helmet for any humans in the vicinity. I almost wished it was real, because glamour or not, Irving looked damn good.
As he brought the bike to a halt and killed the purr-fect engine, he pushed his gold-rimmed goggles to the top of his head.
“Am I late?” He checked his pocket watch and frowned. “I am. It is three minutes after sunrise. I apologize, Glory.”
“What? Dude, nobody gives a shit.” I pointed at the bike. “What the hell...”
He grinned and swung himself off of the machine. “Do you like it?”
“Are you kidding me?” I practically screeched. “This is the single most fantastic thing I’ve ever seen!”
He leaned down to kiss me. “My raptor is pleased with your compliment.”
“Your raptor? As in, a velociraptor?”
“Precisely. Velociraptor means ‘swift seizer’.” His hand glided over the gold handlebars. “There are no two words in existence to better describe this treasure.”
I stooped down to check out the wheels. They were gold rimmed and double-plated with gears connecting the spokes. On closer inspection, I could see that the gears had a very important function. “I have to agree, Irving. It’s priceless. I mean, look at it. The steam engine powers the gears, and it’s the gears that propel the bike forward. They all work together to produce the ultimate speed machine, and the engine doesn’t even have to work as hard.”
I looked up to catch Irving smiling at me. “You have industrial knowledge.”
I raised a brow. “Industrial knowledge is pushing it. I know a little bit about sikes and that’s it.”
“Sikes?”
“Yeah, cycles and bikes.”
Irving chuckled. “You are an interesting character, Glory St. Pierre.”
“You should talk, Irving Amir.”

BAD FOR ME by Codi Gary ~ Kindle Blast {#BFMBlast} @CodiGary @MasqTours

All she has to do is take a chance...

Title: Bad For Me
Series: Rock Canyon #5
Author: Codi Gary
Publication Date: April 7, 2015
Publisher: Avon Romance
Genre: Contemporary Romance

Callie Jacobsen isn't about to open her heart to just anyone. Not so very long ago, trusting someone changed her life forever—and not in a fun way. Now she's better off focusing on her career, her friends, and her dog. So when former Marine Everett Silverton takes an interest in her, Callie's more than a little wary. No matter how charming he is, men are a bad idea. In fact, she's got the scars to prove it. But Everett isn't convinced Callie should shut everyone out—especially not him. He may be a hero to the people of Rock Canyon, but he's got his own demons, and he bets they're not that different from Callie's. Still, he knows it's going to take more than chemistry to get her to let her guard down. Everett will do whatever it takes to show her she's safe with him. All she has to do is take a chance, take a step … and take his hand.

“Looks like you could use a hand.”
“Son of a bitch!” Surprised, Callie spun around from her kneeling position so fast that she fell over, landing in the softening muck with a splat. She’d been too busy cursing the shredded tire and the pouring rain to hear Everett behind her until he spoke.
Callie shook her mud-covered hands and was sure she heard a snort of laughter from Everett over the pouring rain and Ratchet’s muffled barking inside the Jeep.
“Hasn’t anyone ever told you that sneaking up on someone is rude?” Callie glared up at Everett, who was holding his hands down to her. Even though he wasn’t smiling, she’d have to be blind not to catch the amused gleam in his eyes.
Jackass.
Ignoring his offer of assistance, she climbed to her feet, but her bruised pride earned her even more mud as her jeans were soaked through. She tried to wipe off the muck, but it just smeared.
“They have, which is why I didn’t sneak; I walked. I saw you huddled over and figured I could help.”
“Thanks, but I’ve got this,” she said.
Thunder erupted over their heads, and Callie felt like the sky was laughing at her too.
“You sure? You’re shivering like crazy, and I can have this changed in under four minutes. I’ll have you know I hold the Silverton family record for fastest tire change.” Lightning lit up the sky, highlighting his cheeky grin. “And I’ve been told more than once that I’m good with my hands.”
She didn’t want to smile at his gentle teasing, but she was cold and miserable, and he was offering her a way out.
“I was just going to call triple A for a tow—”
“It will be faster if I just change it; believe me. Here.” Everett reached around her and opened the door to the Jeep. “Hop in, and I’ll grab the spare from the back.”
Callie’s face burned with embarrassment. “It’s not there.”
“What?”
“I meant to buy another one, but these suckers aren’t cheap and I just . . . I never got around to it.” She leaned her head against the door, laughing humorlessly. “Pretty stupid, huh?”
“Well, yeah, but there’s no use in me lecturing you when you already know.”
Callie glanced at him sharply. “Thanks a lot, Dad.”
“Come on; I’ll take you to Jose’s Tires, and we’ll get you a new one.”
“I told you; I can’t afford it right now—”
“I’ll take care of it. Don’t worry.”
“Um, no. I don’t like being in anyone’s debt.” She squirmed under his thoughtful gaze and added, “Thank you, but I must decline.”
“Well, I must insist. You can’t just sit here on the side of the road until payday, and triple A will ding you for using one of your get-out-of-trouble calls.” Another crack of thunder shook the sky. “Look, I get it. You don’t know me from Adam, but I can get you over to Jose’s and get you a line of emergency credit. That way, you won’t owe me anything, and I don’t have to stand out in the rain. Sound fair?”
Her insides churned, and she cursed. If she’d just gotten a new spare when she’d bought her last set, she wouldn’t be sitting in the rain at the mercy of a large former marine.
Who you can’t seem to get out of your head.
And now she was about to get into a car with him and have to make small talk. What if he started flirting with ideas that she was interested in him as anything more than an acquaintance?
Why? Because you actually feel something for him, unlike every other guy since Tristan? You gotta start to move on sometime.
But moving on meant putting her trust in another man, and she wasn’t sure she could ever make that mistake again.
“Okay,” Everett said. “I really don’t want to stand out in the rain while you debate whether or not I’m some dirt bag trying to scam you, so how about I run up to Jose’s, get the tire, and come back?”
He was giving her an out and still offering to help her. If she was smart, she would take him up on the offer and climb up into the safety of her Jeep, away from him and his warm brown eyes.
He’s Fred’s son, and everyone says he’s honorable. It’s not like you’re driving to Mexico. It’s right up the road. He didn’t even have to stop—most people wouldn’t have.
“Wait,” she said when he started to turn away. Grabbing Ratchet’s leash and her purse from inside her car, she ignored the voices in her head. “We’re coming.”

Bird of Prey-Book One
Excerpt (R rated)
Sémya hesitated a few times before knocking on Josh’s door. She knew she shouldn’t have just left with Julian like that yesterday but Josh was fine and Julian wasn’t. Julian was a colossal mess. He cried in her arms more times that she would ever care to remember. She hated narcotics but was so very grateful for them last night.  They put Julian temporary out of his misery. She sneaked out before he got a chance to talk to her this morning.
“What!” Josh said when he flung the door open. Josh was a bit of a night owl and was usually sleeping past noon. She could have sworn that he was thinking about slamming it back to her face when he saw her. “What?” He loosely wrapped his sheet around his hips. He was blocking the entrance.
“You either close the door or let me in Heinz, the suspense is killing me,” Sémya said to him, one eyebrow raised. He shut the door. She was too shocked to react and by the time she was ready to yell at him, he opened the door again. This time he was wearing jeans. “That was fucking rude!”
He walked to his kitchen and turned the coffee machine on. “What do you want Sémya?” He looked at her entering his studio and closing the door behind her.
“About yesterday at the police station… sorry I didn’t say goodbye before leaving with Julian,” she said. She joined him. “He was in bad shape at the end of the int–”
“Or called,” Josh interrupted, serving himself a large cup of coffee. It didn’t look like he was going to offer her some.
“Or called,” she repeated.
“Or texted,” he said.
“Or texted,” she repeated.
“Good, you made your point.  What do you want from me?” he said. He waved his phone around, “You could have called or texted the apology.”
“You know what, if you don’t quit being such an asshole this will be the last conversation the two of us will ever have,” she lashed out.
“Fine leave! Release me!” He said matching her tone and almost smashed his cup on the table. His nostrils were flaring and his eyes were almost yellow. Sémya had never been so turned on in her entire life. His breathing was as fast as hers and she could see his erection begging to be set free from his half fastened jeans.
They were silently sizing up each other, wondering who would be the one ending their self-impose torture. Sémya’s entire body was aching. Her nipples were so hard her thin camisole was teasing them. She let out a small sigh while savouring the feeling. And that was all it took for Josh to walk her way.
He kept walking until he successfully backed her to the door. With nowhere to go Sémya raised on her tiptoes… she had been yearning for the taste of his mouth since the moment she stepped inside his studio. He pulled her up and wrapped her legs around him. “Why don’t you wear dresses like a regular girl,” he groaned pressing his erection as much as he possibly could against her centre.
She moaned back and desperately found his lips. This was what she had wanted. She wrapped her arms around his neck, deepening the kiss, sucking his tongue, licking his lips, making them both more aroused by the second. He abruptly broke their kiss to take one of her breasts in his mouth and hungrily started sucking it. She groaned, shrieked and moaned so loudly, she was expecting the neighbours to show up. “Josh…” she pleaded again as she arched her back to the door.
He successfully removed both of their jeans and plunged inside her. “Sémya,” he groaned as he kept moving faster and deeper, holding on to her against the door.
Sémya was holding on to him as much as she could, digging her nails in, biting his shoulders, crossing her legs even more behind his back. “Oh…my…God!” she screamed when she felt her body contracting around Josh’s. The release was pure heaven…
“Oh…Sémya!” he groaned a few seconds later. She didn’t know how they could still be standing after that performance. Her entire body was numb and alert at the same time. He miraculously found the bed and collapsed on it with her.
“Don’t!” she said keeping him even closer when he wanted to pull away. She could feel him growing hard inside her again.
“Is that all you want from me?” he let out. He was obviously struggling for control.
She caressed his beautiful face and softly kissed him. “That’s all I want right now.”
